Running Accomplishments:

I have lost 90 pounds. This more than any thing else is my greatest accomplishment. After my collegiate running career I sadly stopped running and kept eating all the way to 265 pounds. After a lot of soul-searching and even more running I am now 175, the same weight I was in college.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep running. I simply run for greater health. I enjoy the struggle for self improvement.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I would like to amass enough race t-shirts to make blankets for every bed in the house, as well as finally run a marathon. (Oct 15th SoJo Marathon)

I ran the last 22 or so miles of the SoJo Marathon course early this morning. I tried out my marathon breakfast that consists of 3 pieces of whole wheat toast with peanut butter. I also used the drink from the book “Born to Run”, water, lime juice, chi seeds, and a little sugar. Both seemed to work out great. I felt comfortably full and well hydrated during the run. I was a little concerned about leaving my car at 5:30 in the morning on the side of the road on Bacus Highway, but that turned out just fine.

I could not have asked for a better run. I felt strong throughout the entire workout. I know I didn’t take my usual easy run pace of 7:00 plus minutes, but I wanted to push my self a bit on this run. I’m not going to classify the pace as marathon pace simply because I know I can go faster come race day. I always felt like I had more in the tank on this run.

This was a very encouraging workout leading up to my first marathon. I think I will do well come race day as long as I can avoid doing anything stupid between now and then that will get me injured. I am more excited than ever for race day.

Wow, crazy "training" run. I actually thought about calling and seeing if you wanted to run with me this morning but I had early kid soccer games this morning and my wife would have shot me if I'd missed them.

I would have loved to do this run with you. That would have rocked! All the same I hope you had fun at the soccer game.

What an encouraging run. Just a few week to go - NO INJURIES. Just relax and enjoy the ride/pain. I looks like mile 6 and 17 will be some work but you should nail it.

wow...yeah, if you can train at a 6:35, your MP should be 30+ seconds faster than your long run paces. Taper well and train right and stay injury free and you are looking quite well for a 2:40ish! Honestly...can't even fathom running that fast for that long...can't do it! I run my yassos at a 6:40 pace and yeah, that's good for me. Just.in.awe.

Chad- Ya that hill climbing up to the entrance of Kennecot is going to be a beast, but the others are not so bad. But that down hill is supper fast.

RAD- You shouldn’t de in awe of me. I’m just a formerly fat guy that likes to run. I’m in awe that the pros are doing the marathon at around 5 min miles. that is over 1:30 per mile raster than this run. Now that is amazing!
