Running Accomplishments:

I have lost 90 pounds. This more than any thing else is my greatest accomplishment. After my collegiate running career I sadly stopped running and kept eating all the way to 265 pounds. After a lot of soul-searching and even more running I am now 175, the same weight I was in college.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Keep running. I simply run for greater health. I enjoy the struggle for self improvement.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I would like to amass enough race t-shirts to make blankets for every bed in the house, as well as finally run a marathon. (Oct 15th SoJo Marathon)

I ran around Liberty Park today because I was looking for someplace flat that didn't have stop lights for my tempo run. My plan was to hold the tempo pace for 8-9 miles. But, that was just not in the cards today. I pulled the plug after only 6 miles at pace. I'm sure some of the problem was that I was just not prepared mentally for a that hard of a run, and some of it may be the fatigue from the higher millage that I have been running recently. In either case I am disappointed to not get to at least 8 miles.

splits, HR

1-7:01, 148 Warmup

2-6:12, 164 Tempo start

3-6:18, 168

4-6:16, 168

5-6:14, 168

6-6:24, 168 this is a problem

7-6:17, 173

8-7:30, 145 recovery run

9-7:38, 145

10-7:56, 139

.13-7:50,139

Looking at it now I can see that I carried the same effort though the 6th split, but my fitness level started to slow me down. The following mile was significantly more taxing as shown by the elevated HR, but I should have been able to do another 2 miles. GRRRR!

it's still a good workout -- and you were smart to shut it down when your body told you it was time. you have a good month before the marathon and you don't want that fitness to peak too soon anyway. i think you are right where you should be right now. keep it up.

Coming form a runner of your caliber that makes me feel better about shutting it down. Thanks allie.
